Archive for August, 2011

I’m 26 years old. I have bad epilepsy since I was 10 and very bad short term memory loss. I’m not allowed to drive and I live off of disability checks. Right now I have 2 job searchers looking for jobs for me but they haven’t found a job in 4 years now. I’ve had 4 jobs so far,2 have laid me off just for having a 1 seizure on the job, the other 2 just wasn’t the right fit and were bad environments for me. I’m not allowed to work with anything electrical, mechanical or hazardous to the body such as weapons, fire, heat, chemical, toxic and such. Also most government jobs I’m not allowed to do either because I’m disabled because of epilepsy. I don’t really want to start my own business or work from home. I’m happy with pretty much any minimum wage job since I’ve been stuck in a house for 10 years straight. I can’t go towards any of my dream jobs like a fighter pilot, soldier or athlete. If anyone has any kind of great thoughts of any kind of jobs that I could do, it would be appreciated very much.

Do you like teaching? I would highly suggest it. Mainly because you would be given support staff due to your disabilities. Plus most districts are looking to hire diverse staff to show children, anything is possible. I had a college with epilepsy last year and yes she had some difficulties but she was great. If all else fails, you could be a greater at supermarket. They are always hiring those.

Im going to finish college at the end of this month. I plan to take August off and just chill then start the job search in September. What do u recommend I do in this time? Ive already travelled alot so I don’t want to do that. This is just some ideas for stuf to do when u are young that you wont get the chanceto when u are working

The job search has to start at least 6 months before you graduate. Waiting until a month after you graduate just means you will have several months of unemployment.
