I have just come back from a month in vietnam and want to return next year for a year. I am aware if i get a personal visa i can only get it for 3months but this would mean i would have to jump countries on the third month. Is it easy to get a work visa and to search for a job (im looking at staying in nha trang)

thanks for the help

I love hearing the horror stories, but fortunately, most of them are not true.

Getting a visa in Vietnam is no more difficult than getting one anywhere else. You have to get your paperwork filled out correctly and submit the forms with the appropriate payment.

If you work for a company, they will handle all of this for you and get your work permit (which is what you need for any business visa longer than three months.

Regarding "Buon Giorno Vietnam" comment, I too have a Vietnamese wife (14 years now). Yes, you can get a long-term visa providing you have proof of marriage AND providing your wife acts as your guarantor (which can be dangerous as hell if she gets pissed at you and cancels your visa and takes the house.)

Lastly, if you want to get a longer stay visa, talk to one of the more well known tourist hotels / travel agents. They have the connections to sort you out quickly, sometimes in ONE DAY.

Enjoy your stay in Vietnam and good luck with the job hunting!

For all the stuff she’s been going through from Undercover, Fault, and PTSD, it stands to reason to me that Olivia would better serve as a social worker, or a rape crisis counselor, or some job that does not involve fighting. I’d like to know what your current standing on Benson is.

no way! i wouldn’t be able to watch the show anymore

What are some actual online payday loan places?

I am just wondering what are some websites to actual payday loan places not third party searchers for lenders. Preferably some reasonably easy ones. I am trying to help a friend of mine get some money because he wants to get his life on track and get a job but his car is broken down and there isnt any business in walking distance or any public transportation because he lives in such a small town. Or if anyone knows an organization who can help someone in that situation. Thanks!

Honestly its not something I would recommend often and it can be a lot of interest payments. But maybe theres no alternative. Best of luck.

What are your current job search frustrations?

I’m looking to start a blog series that addresses the most prevalent job search frustrations for those seeking work. Please share yours!

I’m not qualified for the field I want to work in (yet).

I have a 4 year BS degree in recreation management. I worked a few years in that field, now i’m unemployed. I’m seeking a career change. I’m looking for a field where I could help people and be hands on. Not rehabilitation or therapy recreation. Basically I would like to become a career counselor, help youth at risk, or suicide prevention. I’m almost 30 and feel old. I feel like I have lived my life..should have done things differently. Therefore I want to reach out to the youth and do something meaningful that I enjoy daily. I became tired of working with sports. Nothing in my area for a female to advance in recreation. To be honest I can’t afford to go back to school. I could apply for a loan if possible.

Anyone here have any suggestions? The career office and my old college were not any help.

Thanks for reading.

You might need additional certification for the areas you’d like to work in. I’m kinda in the same boat as you! Except I’m 39…now that’s old!

My B.A. is in behavioral science. I’ve been thinking of going through a second bachelors program for nursing. Mostly because of the job security and decent wage. So I’ve been working at a hospital in patient care (nurse aide). I had thought of working at a mental health agency in a few of the areas you’ve mentioned, as well as addictions counseling. BUT the pay rate for these positions is not good, i.e. less than $10.00 an hour! I just can’t live on that.

For a career counselor position you might need a bachelor’s in social work. At least that’s what I’ve seen in the past as a requirement for that position.

Check into the headstart programs (do a web search). I’ve seen postings for positions but they require a teaching cert. If you’ve got the time you might try and volunteer just to get some experience. I also remember seeing openings for volunteers to work suicide prevention hotlines(they train you).

Sorry to say, but it really sounds like you’re going to have to get additional education in order to do the things that you mentioned. Something more in line with the behavioral sciences. Some community colleges have certificate programs for mental health technician and social work technician which would get you qualified.

Btw, if you don’t already have student loans you’re one of the lucky few! I’m currently paying off $58,000!

Another tip…go to your nearest michigan works agency (it’s the unemployment office) and ask about getting signed up for the "no worker left behind" program. I did this last week because I want to know how I can get the FREE $$ for retraining in a needed area. Check out the link for eligibility, you don’t need to be unemployed in order to qualify.

Also since you already have your BS degree you might only need to take a handful of courses in order to get teacher certification. With that certification I’d say you would be qualified for all the jobs you’ve mentioned.

And what about going for a master’s degree in social work, MSW? Now that would be excellent for the area’s you’re interested in! And it sounds like you’d be great at it!

Another option is teaching overseas in asia. You’re already qualified since you have a 4yr degree.

Good Luck!
