How Effective are the online courses for 3d animation and vfx? (Lynda.com and Digital Tutors) And will these online certification programs holds value while Job Seeking in animation or vfx studious… and if does to what extend? Will it be equal to those obtained from some animation training institutes (Arena or Animaster) ?
How effective the courses are really depends on the student. Online certification programs are not as highly valued by employers as are degrees from accredited institutions. Very few of the 3D animation schoolsl carry any recognized academic accreditation. Businesses are looking for the whole package, not just a splinter skill.
You want not only to learn the software, but how to be creative with it. You need to know how to create a story line. You need to develop your own flare.
You don’t want to be stuck with the XYZ package when the company you are attempting to get a job with uses ABC software. Some of the courses teach to only one or two packages of software.
ITT has created 90 campus throughout the U.S. many gaming companies accept their grads.
So if you don’t want a full time college, this is a pretty fair second rate option.
You would be best served by getting a full education at an accredited state school. The cost is most likely 1/2 of the online course even if you had to go to an out of your state college to get the program you wanted. You get a rounded education and have access to your instructors.
