What is the best career job search site? I have been on careerbuilder; indeed; does it help to get on ladders or anything like that or pay for one of those things that will get your resume out to a lot of different employers; are there head hunters anymore; I have a great resume but cannot find anything; any advice would be appreciated.

It really depends on your skill set. For general Job Searchs, monster.com is an excellent choice. As for engineers and careers that overlap with software, then www.dice.com is the best. I’ve used dice.com successfully many times. The "catch" is to market your skills and experience effectively on your resume. If you have a college education, see if your career services center offers a portfolio website that employers can look at with your skills. The more skills and experience you have, the better. I was laid off a couple of times early in my career. I adapted to the cruel job market by developing a multi-disciplinary background. So now I have had many inquiries, interviews, daily phone calls, emails, etc. from dice.com. I got a great job a few days ago and am euphoric right now. I would recommend a career in health career or engineering. Software engineering, mechanical engineering, and chemical engineering are good examples. Non-traditional majors that are also good include MBA/healthcare, physician’s assistant, MRI tech, medical informatics, medical billing, business intelligence, FDA regulatory affairs, etc. Just choose one you like.
