Is better career search a scam?
I was on craigslist and applied for a job through email. They emailed me back, informing me that they could not hire through craigslist (according to their boss…) They asked me if I could instead download the better career search tool and apply through there. I’m pretty sure it’s a scam, but can anyone please confirm this? Thanks, ten points to best answer.
I got the exact same reply to an inquiry based on a listing for an Office Assistant in Louisiana. This is what they sent me:
"Your resume shined brightest out of all the resumes we received. From what we can tell from your resume you are exactly the type of employee we are looking for!
Earlier today my boss informed me that I am not allowed to post the job on craigslist and that we have to hire through a place called better Career Search. Because of this, I’m going to need you to apply through their website instead of craigslist."
I’ve noticed that when you get a reply saying that you’re the best candidate ever within several hours of your inquiry, it’s probably a scam.
Why are they preying on people who are looking for work?!? We’re obviously not the ones with money.

Was this for a data entry position? I got the same type of email after applying on craigslist in NJ. They said my resume "shined the brightest." Sounds like BS to me but I might try it on a public computer somewhere.

Yeah I got the same "your resume shined" response as well for what looked like a great job opportunity. I’m definitely not going to be downloading anything. Damn Craig’s List and their bogus listings!
