I know there is unemployment benefit where they will pay your previous income for 2 weeks until you get a job. But who does that search? Is there such a Government program where they will try to help you get a job? If so, where in Houston can I go to get my interview so they would help me find a job? what are teh requirements? What if Im not from Houston per se but lives there? just give me as much info as much as possible, I need a job.

The same place: Texas Workforce Commission or TWC. They provide many services besides unemployment insurance.

Should I use a Recruiting Agency? I have left a resume at Kelly Girl services, but was asked what I wanted to do and quite frankly I was under the impression that if I was at their agency, I obviously came there to apply for any job. I need some guidance. Please help. I raised 3 boys and been divorced for almost 3 years. Besides the college I graduated from are there other places where you can go to get this kind of guidance?

You may have your best resume handy, sign up or update them on mainstream prominent websites that post jobs. Then, browse and apply for the job package that appeals to you. Why? Most sites like that already post job offers that are from local agencies besides individual employers’ offers. Apply/submit online. (fastest correspondence) When you get a reply, you are called for an interview with the direct employer or the agency which posted the job. Kelly is all right but dont blame them if you dont get a callback in a very short time. Other than that, stuffs on top of my mind are,

(1) Monster.com
(2) Careerbuilder.com
(3) Yahoo Hotjobs
(4) Snagajob.com…….etc

You can even sign up for the type of jobs you want that are posted daily, sent to your inbox such as,

(5) Indeed.com……..etc

Besides Kelly, also try

(6) Appleone.com (agency pretty good in Beverly Hills, should be elsewhere)
(7) Also check Craigslist.com as a last resort or other local agencies. (not significant in my mind).

Directly checking with employer websites are also a preferred option in profiled cases. (i-e: banking, teaching, C-Level…etc)

In the end, you get to pick your best from the "broadest avenues"(all options) and seal the deal. Yep, it should sound like "it’s what you want-!!".

Better technology gives way for easier access to recruitment online. In fact most applications sent into companies are done online, without the possibility of physically handing in one’s resume. This new way of recruitment allows online searching for jobs abroad much simpler. In order to find online recruitment in West Africa, such as in Ghana and Nigeria, one will search for sites that offer job listings for abroad.

The best option is to go through the citizen’s government to understand what types of jobs are available in the said country. For certain types of jobs, such as teaching opportunities, the government will be able to help one in finding the online site to retrieve to send in an application. Once the application is accepted the said government’s consulate site will be able to aid in understanding what steps need to be taken to secure the employment.

This is not the only possibility in finding online recruitment in West Africa. There are many websites available with job postings listed for all those interested. Teaching is the highest sought after position, and most needed; however, one can find positions in areas such as sales, executive representative, software developers and more in Ghana. Also, sites for volunteer work are accessible in both Ghana and Nigeria. Of course there are several fields open for recruitment; but, for example, in Nigeria job postings exist for engineers, network logistics managers, and other types of managers as well as head of the network support office. The choices are almost endless and finding online recruitment is not difficult. The first step is deciding which interest to research. Once this is narrowed down to one or two areas then begin researching. If interested in volunteering the website www.transitionsabroad.com is an excellent spot to check out. To get listings of job openings in Ghana try www.jobsabroad.com/Ghana.but be aware that this is not the only site to research and that there are many more opportunities available. Take the time to really look around and find what will be most interesting or needed to further experience in a certain field.

After finding the perfect job, let’s say in Ghana, it may be a good idea to look into sites such as www.findinghana.com to realize what may be needed for creating a comfortable life while in Ghana. Sites for Nigeria are also set up to help in this area. To look into jobs offered all throughout Africa there is www.africaguide.com/work.htm that will give a wider variety of postings, if allowing for variety or variations.

Again, volunteer work can give experience in particular areas for future opportunities. In Nigeria there are works dealing with water aid, food security, business, etc and one can opt to go this route through organizations, backed by the government. One can choose to go directly through the government or more personably through the organizations. All the information can be found online and because of the intensity of these types of programs online recruitment is the absolute best way to become a volunteer, or to post resumes for job offers.

As said earlier, teaching English abroad will make the research seem effortless because there are always openings. Go directly to Ghana or Nigeria’s consulate site in the United States http://www.ghanaembassy.org/ , or one’s own country, and contact the embassy to find further information on how to get involved in their teaching English abroad program.

At about every website created for finding jobs in West Africa, including Ghana and Nigeria, one will always find jobs available for teaching English abroad. However, there are other possibilities to be found, such as those in fields of technology or business and even volunteering for water works. Online recruitment is becoming not only the number one in recruitment but the only way. Even for local jobs one cannot walk into the establishment, fill out an application and leave one’s resume. One must do a little researching online to find recruitment for jobs, as well as for jobs abroad in West Africa.

There are a million people looking for jobs, at this moment and as we speak, and while a few people might get the jobs they are seeking for through different methods, quite a few consult the Department of Employment Services of their state to get help in finding the right job that will be best for their skills and needs. Every state of the United States has a department of this sort and while, naturally, it varies a little in each state with regard to what is offered and method of delivering services to their clients, the general aim of all the employment service departments remain the same, i.e., helping employees and employers get together for mutual benefit.

Variations the different Department of Employment Services
Every Department of Employment Service of each state in the US has their own websites and these sites usually offer to the people of the state the kind of employment they seek and the resources required to achieve it. If you browse through the different websites of each department, and compare them, you will find a variation in different features and offers of each department. The website for the employment service department for the New York state provides information on the schedule of job fairs that people can attend to find different employment options, the state’s unemployment status at present and a list of potential professional employment services and companies that people should approach to try their luck. Meanwhile, the website of the employment service department for the California state offers features such as Intensive Services Program, which guides people who cant find employment in getting the work that is required and provides help in that direction.

Department’s staples
In spite of the different methods and services offered by the different departments and their varying method of functioning, there are some factors that are common to all the departments alike. The job bank, the information on unemployment and employment laws, and the resume database are few of the common aspects to all departments in all states. Of course the method followed for collection of the different resumes submitted by people or how it is presented to the employers maybe different, but the fact is that every department has a resume bank that can be presented to employers who are searching for employees.

If you find it too tedious to go through the different state-run employment service department websites, you could always visit the main site for employment, i.e., the United States Department of Labor website and look for listings and job offerings there.
